On September 11th, 2001, FDNY paramedic Chevalo Wilsondebriano responded to the World Trade Center and found himself inside one of the darkest days in American history. He survived the collapse. But survival
was only the beginning.
What You Couldn't See takes readers beyond the images broadcast around the world and into the moments the cameras never captured: the split second decisions made as the towers fell, the fear hidden behind the
uniform, the fellow responders who never came home, and the complicated reality of surviving when so many others did not.
The story continues after the world stopped watching. Wilsondebriano recounts returning to Ground Zero, the physical consequences of exposure, survivor's guilt, funerals, family and the promise that helped reshape his future.
His journey eventually carried him far beyond Ground Zero. He and Monique left New York, built a family, became entrepreneurs, grew a nationally distributed consumer brand and began helping other entrepreneurs pursue opportunities of their own.

More than a September 11th memoir, What You Couldn't See is about what comes after survival. It is a story about family, purpose, reinvention, remembrance and what can happen when you stop assuming tomorrow is
guaranteed.
Twenty-five years after September 11th, an FDNY paramedic who survived the World Trade Center collapse is telling what happened after the cameras
left. Wilsondebriano's story connects the events of September 11th with the decades that followed: Ground Zero recovery work, survivor's guilt, health consequences, family, entrepreneurship, reinvention and purpose.
